Sustainable steam for HSV
HSV is concerned about issues such as sustainability and the environment.
In our opinion it is important that we contribute and do whatever is possible to preserve the planet.
For years we therefore contribute in numerous ways to do our share. For example; in our production, the choice of our machines, the use and processing of particle foams. Recycling of our materials and reduce the emission of CO2. We closely watch new developments in this area.
This is how we came in contact with Biomass Central Valley (BDV) two years ago. HSV has chosen to use sustainable steam. In the past period preparations were made and the steam pipeline between BDV and HSV was realized.
Steam pipeline
To build a pipeline of 1.5 km, to transport 13 bar steam, concidering culling, condensate despatch, the expansion of the pipeline and limit the loss of heat is a challenge in itself. This part of the project was carried out by two engineers of Rotterdam Engineering. They are familiar with underground steam pipelines and heating systems.
To minimize condensation inside of the pipeline the steam is superheated at BDV. To ensure there is as little loss of heat as possible the pipe is insulated with rock wool and a vacuum is created between the two pipes, just like the principle of a thermos flask.
With sustainable steam and other initiatives we contribute as much as possible to reduce our CO2 emission, during the production of particle foam products for our customers, in order to create a better environment.
