In September 2016, HSV was contacted by Ton Marsman, owner and culinary expert at Kookland. His idea: hot meals complete with flatware, prepared from honest, high-quality ingredients, ready-made and delivered to the customer\u2019s home. Kookland is already delivering vacuum-packed cold meals, but Ton has taken this idea to the next level with this idea: a genuine logistical challenge.<\/p>\n
The hand-prepared, authentic meals are chilled and then vacuum-wrapped. After that, final preparation takes place at the distribution points, where the meals are heated to the right temperature, beautifully arranged on the plates, and then delivered.<\/p>\n
Ton presented his challenge to HSV: \u2018How do we get these arranged plates containing these meals to the customer\u2019s table at the right temperature, while retaining the arrangement on the plate?\u2019
\nAdditional challenges included:<\/p>\n
\u2022 The limits of the outer packaging dimensions,
\n\u2022 the required insulating properties and
\n\u2022 the number of table settings that needed to fit.<\/p>\n
HSV started the engineering process and developed the Kookland dinner solution, manufactured from Expanded Poly-Propylene (EPP). EPP is washable, has strong insulating properties, and is reusable: the perfect material properties for this project.<\/p>\n
Creative as always, the HSV engineers came up with an ingenious solution. A lid designed in such a way that the arrangement of the plates remains completely intact and that the cutlery does not move.<\/p>\n
The design phase consisted of a number of revisions which Kookland and HSV went through together. In October, HSV delivered a milling model. In March of this year, following extensive field tests and a number of revisions, the first product samples of these dinner boxes were produced.<\/p>\n
The Kookland dinner box is created using minimal raw materials and renewable energy. The Renault Twizzy (a completely electrical vehicle) is used for the delivery. A responsible and sustainable choice for customers!<\/p>\n
During this process, HSV took responsibility for a number of aspects, facilitating the client\u2019s needs and handling e.g. the engineering process. Ton is very satisfied with the pleasant collaboration and the final result.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
