EPS Cycle: a key step forward in EPS recycling
EPS Cycle was launched earlier this year, at the UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark. EPS Cycle is the European brand committed to EPS recycling.
Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands have been the first European countries to formally use the EPS Cycle system.
Milestone for the EPS industry
It marks an important milestone for the EPS industry – because EPS is fully recyclable and is actually processed for large-scale recycling. Reuse and mechanical recycling of EPS involves a straightforward process and has been put into practice successfully. No empty promises, but a solid system proven in practice.
Used EPS returned for recycling
The EPS Cycle website offers interactive maps of all participating countries, showing locations where used EPS can be handed in. This makes it much easier for companies and individuals to hand in EPS waste and have it recycled for reuse in an environmentally friendly way.
As a member of the Stybenex industry association in the Netherlands, HSV is delighted to be part of this initiative. As a manufacturing company and a leading player in the EPS industry, we recognise the importance of using our resources sparingly. We are therefore firmly committed to solutions that contribute to a circular economy.
‘EPS Cycle conveys a powerful message: EPS is a valuable material that is not just suitable for recycling, but is in fact actively recycled,’ says Rogier Messelink, Managing Director at HSV Packaging & Insulation nv. ‘We hope it will inspire other countries and that they will join this programme. This initiative offers new opportunities to make optimal use of raw materials and to minimise waste. Partnering to improve the environment and for a sustainable future!’
