Urban Arrow opts for eco-friendly EPP from HSV

Eco-friendly production is a perfect fit for the company philosophy embraced by Urban Arrow,

which develops robust, ‘green’ commuter bicycles in the Netherlands. The EPP storage/transport compartment of the Shorty, the latest bicycle in this manufacturer’s product range, is produced using green steam, but that’s not the only eco-friendly aspect.

Urban Arrow deliberately chose to use this specific material, and opted for HSV the particle foam engineers. The designers at Urban Arrow first encountered EPP while developing their Family line. The lightweight material – and complete freedom to create any shape at all – made EPP a valuable addition to the Shorty product programme.

The Shorty is an amazingly ‘green’ product

The Shorty is the greenest option in its class. The bicycle does not have any particulate emissions, and its carbon footprint is minimal. The EPP storage and transport box is produced using green steam. HSV deliberately chose this sustainable production process to shape the particle foams. This process significantly reduces CO2 emissions, achieving a reduction equal to the consumption of approx. 1,400 households.

Sustainable step in the right direction

The combination of the bicycle and the EPP product is a great sustainable step in the right direction, and it also benefits air quality in the city. When you climb on your Shorty, you’ll cycle through the city smoothly and in near-silence, thanks in part to the lightweight properties of the EPP solution – one of the many advantages of this type of particle foam.

Dutch Design

The Shorty is an example of Dutch Design from start to finish, and the same applies to the HSV contribution to this robust commuter bike. And it shows!
