HSV sponsors Solar Team Eindhoven
HSV is a sponsor of the Solar Team Eindhoven (TU/e) and Stella Vita, a Self-sustaining House On Wheels [SHOW]. This mobile home generates so much solar power that you can live, work, relax and drive in the vehicle. Everything comes together in one independent energy system.
‘Stella Vita is self-sufficient in terms of energy and independent of charging infrastructure. This gives you the freedom to go and stand where you want, without burdening the environment,’ says Kjell Revenberg, team manager of Solar Team Eindhoven. ‘Stella Vita gives a clear insight into your energy consumption. In this way, you deal with the energy you have in a conscious way.’
Sponsorship for developing innovative technologies
HSV promotes the development of innovative technologies that make a constructive contribution to a sustainable future and a better environment. For that reason, our sponsoring of this project is in line with the philosophy of our organisation.
Lightweight and sustainable kitchen unit
Berco Truck Components bv, one of the sponsors of the Solar Team, is familiar with EPP in material applications and brought this project to the attention of the particle foam engineers at HSV. Working closely with Berco, HSV supplied the EPP parts for this lightweight, sustainable kitchen unit for Stella Vita.
As a particle foam, EPP has material properties that make it perfect for this project, since EPP is lightweight, robust, food-safe, easy to clean and fully recyclable. You can read more about the material properties of EPP on the materials page.
The kitchen unit is assembled entirely from milled EPP parts. It consists of a number of cabinets, drawers and doors and is surrounded by a casing. The EPP parts have been finished with a textured ‘layer’ of EPP applied by laser texturing in a mould. This finishing touch supports functionality and gives the kitchen unit a sleek, modern look.
About Stella Vita

Self-sustaining
By designing and building the Stella Vita, Solar Team Eindhoven aims to provide inspiration for the transition to a sustainable future, in both energy and mobility. Stella Vita is self-sufficient in terms of energy and independent of charging infrastructure. This shows that driving on solar energy offers many possibilities. The energy generated is used for both driving and living.
Solving energy and mobility challenges
Solar Team Eindhoven is a student initiative of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). The initial goal of Solar Team Eindhoven was to develop a solar-powered consumer car. The award-winning Stella vehicles have been the inspiration for Lightyear One, the first Dutch solar car for the consumer market. This first goal has been achieved. By designing and building the Stella Vita, the team seeks to make a fresh contribution to solving energy and mobility challenges.
