A new evaporation unit for Oxy-com

Oxy-com faced the challenge of developing a completely new evaporation unit for a global customer. The Oxyvap module, developed by Oxy-com, was used as starting point for this new product. Key words for this product innovation; high insulation values, reduction of noise, decrease of operating costs and minimization of the actual final product.

In the majority of cases the design of evaporation equipment is far from ideal. Buyers often find themselves confronted with a clumsy, noisy box placed on the roof, often to the displeasure of local residents. Based on the requirements Oxy-com was forced to develop a system where these current benefits would be improved, disadvantages would be drastically reduced and even eliminated.

The solution we created: with the high technology of Oxy-com combined with the formability and perfect features of particle foam, we invented an evaporation unit that is more quiet and compact.

For example, it is possible to mount this product completely out of sight, between wooden rafters on the roof. Only the upper part of the ventilation unit is visible. Furthermore, the patented (EPP)-structure is designed in partly foldable housing and can be snapped together onsite for the final assembly. This solution immediately saves costs of transportation and assembly time with approximately 75%. Another additional advantage, as a result of the modular design, it has become possible to easily extend each Oxyvap-system with multiple evaporators in order to deliver the required cooling capacity.

The new Oxyvap is innovative both in terms of construction as well in design. Partly due to the application of other materials and processes, the flow profiles have been greatly improved. The use of moulded EPP parts ensure a lighter and better insulating housing; the fan is placed at the other side of the evaporators, to improve airstream and mute noise. In this new design we reduced the number of required components, from more than 400 to just 28 in total.

Result: The Oxyvap is a compact, highly insulated and modular direct evaporative cooling system, which gives the answer to both aesthetical, and technical requirements.
