Successful launch of SolvisBen

Solvis GmbH, a German manufacturer of high-efficiency heating systems and solar collectors, partnered with HSV the particle foam engineers to launch a completely new boiler in record time: the SolvisBen

With the launch of Ben, Solvis has moved forward to an innovative EPP full-system casing for its new top-of-the-line boiler. EPP is ideally suited for the purpose, and the partnership with HSV was a logical choice in a highly complex process.

Advantages for Solvis

The partnership with HSV offered many advantages for Solvis, leading to direct savings and increased revenue

  • Short time to market: the total development of the boiler took place within a very short time frame.
  • TCO: reduced total cost of ownership, significant reduction in the number of parts, and a shorter assembly time.
  • First-time-right design: immediately after delivery of the test samples, the first dozens of devices were shipped out.
  • Functionality and aesthetic design are combined for maximum effect. EPP is lightweight, offers optimal thermal insulation, and can be shaped into any form at all.

The result: a beautifully designed product and direct cost savings for Solvis, thanks to an optimal collaboration with the particle foam engineers.

EPP from HSV serves perfectly here.

Chance of winning a Red Dot Award

Solvis made major investments in the outer finish of the boiler casing as well. The entire outer shell was constructed by installing over four square metres of lasered surface structure in the matrices. The result is a fine device that has been nominated for consideration for a Red Dot Award.

Response by Mathias Pfleiderer, Head of Strategic Purchasing at Solvis

‘For our new SolvisBen boiler, we wanted to supplement tried-and-tested components by developing a new insulation/casing concept, equipped with optimal thermal insulation, functional assembly, and a surprising surface structure that would inspire enthusiasm in our clients.

We achieved this in close collaboration with HSV Moulded Foam Group. HSV offered us optimal support and took our technical specifications into consideration.

This included the design and construction phase of the product with particle foam components, the introduction of an optical upgrade by adding laser texturing to surfaces, all the way to smart assembly solutions that effectively shorten the logistical process of the manufactured EPP components. The two-colour combination of the insulating materials especially sheds new light on EPP as a material.’

‘Thanks for the cooperation and for the high-quality technical partnership.’
